Gordon King Suite

This elegant and spacious room, full of original features and superbly restored, was once the original master bedroom, hence its grand proportions as well as 12' high ceilings.

It is softly lit by three tall bay windows dressed with natural wooden blinds. Each is topped by original art nouveau stained glass fanlights incorporating geometric patterns of the American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. There is an antique brass king bed with luxurious pillow-topped mattress.

Comfortable, soft leather chairs furnish the seating area. A pleasing mix of original local artwork and antique prints adorns the walls. A private entrance through french doors leads onto the veranda with its outdoor chairs and table.

The ensuite bathroom, with a wealth of rimu wood and brass fittings, has both bath and shower. This suite faces north for all day sun.

Everett King Suite

This light-filled, spacious room was once the original family drawing room, hence its gracious proportions in addition to 12' high ceilings.

Three of the four tall windows, all dressed with light-stop blinds and romantic sheers, form a graceful semi-curved bay and are topped by original stained glass fanlights.

All look out onto the grapefruit tree and the charming, colourful front and side gardens. The room contains a wealth of revealed native woods from the sash windows to the hand-crafted antique bed to the antique carved kauri fire surround.

The king bed is supremely comfortable with a luxurious pillow-topped mattress. Comfortable, soft leather chairs furnish the seating area in the bay. A pleasing mix of original local artwork and antique prints adorns the walls. The ensuite shower room features native rimu wooden floor and ceiling. This suite faces west for afternoon sun.

Victorian Rose King Suite

This tranquil spacious room with 12' high ceilings is filled with sun from morning until late afternoon.

The tall window, dressed with light-stop blinds and romantic sheer, looks onto a private courtyard garden featuring fragrant climbing flowers, local stone and wood, then towards the nearby hills and geographical centre of New Zealand.

There is an antique brass king bed with luxurious pillow-topped mattress. The room is simply and elegantly furnished with comfortable leather chairs, antique rimu desk and bedside cabinets.

A pleasing mix of specially-commissioned local artwork, antique prints and hand-crafted mirror adorns the walls.

A fully-fitted, walk-in wardrobe is situated in the hall connecting the main room to the ensuite bathroom.

This room features rimu wood to ceiling, walls and floor, an expanse of bevelled mirror and classic tiling. There is both bath and shower.

Morning Sun Super King Suite

This is a spacious, quiet room with 12' high ceilings. It is flooded with light from morning until late afternoon through a tall, sash window dressed with light-stop blinds and simple textured white sheer.

It looks onto a private courtyard garden featuring fragrant climbing flowers, local stone and wood, then towards the nearby hills and geographical centre of New Zealand.

The room is newly refurbished in sumptuous, rich colours, emphasising the elegance and simplicity of the décor. The super king bed, which splits to twin beds, features antique, carved oak headboards and luxurious pillow-topped mattresses.

The room is furnished with comfortable leather chairs, antique desk, wood and tile cabinet and ornately-carved wardrobe. On the walls there is a pleasing mix of vibrant original local artwork and antique prints. The ensuite shower room features native rimu ceiling and matai wooden floor.

This tariff is guaranteed through to 30 September 2010 giving added value and affordability.
Third person in any room NZ$60 extra.
Single person in any room NZ$20 less.
Tariff includes New Zealand's Goods and Services Tax of 12.50%, lavish speciality breakfast, evening aperitif, wi-fi /Internet access and the experience of this beautiful house.

California House Inn is a small boutique B&B and late cancellations affect us greatly.
